Our First Date

This is the first time since the start of this blog that our computer actually let us post without freezing and/or shutting down! You are witnessing a miracle here. Hopefully the technical posting miracles will continue.
Well, I wanted to start with our first date. Here we are, August of 2007. We met online actually. Neither of us were ever pro-internet dating, but we can't laugh at it now. We sent a couple emails back and forth and then exchanged phone numbers. We would text and call. Got to know each other a little. I was gone for work a week at a time, but that didn't stop John, he asked me out on a date before I left for my "triple" (three weeks straight out in the west desert wilderness of Utah). We went on a hike in Provo Canyon (Utah). I took us down the river on the way down instead of the trail, just for fun. We weren't so sure it was fun though when we thought we kept walking through stinging nettle... or was it poison ivy? We were in shorts and our legs itched that's what I really remember. At the bottom there was a big clearing. John had brought his camera so we did a little photo shoot. This little beauty below is a candid picture by me. I had the remote and he was telling me the next picture positions. This was serious business as you can see from John's expression =)

Well, I can't figure out how to get the pictures where I want them. But beggars can't be choosers, right? At least there are pictures and a post. Well, we had fun on the date. John's most vivid memory is before the hike when he took me to Bajio's mexican cafe. We both got a salad. I'm not a big fan of Guacamole so I just scooped it up and plopped it on his plate without even a word. This actually impressed him because of how open and comfortable I was with him. I didn't even think twice about it. Good thing it worked in my favor. Guess just being yourself really does work. So, by the end of our first date, I thought he was a nice guy and we would forget about each other over the next 3 weeks of absence. John thought I was a nice girl and was ready to put all other serious dating offers on hold until he knew if he had a chance with me. Isn't love such a mystery =D

  1. I love the pictures and the seriousness of John's face on how he is telling him how to pose.
